Alastair Fothergill OBE holds the Royal Geographical Society's Cherry Kearton Medal and was made a Fellow of the Royal Television Society for his work in natural history programming. He made his first film, On the Okavango, while he was a student, joined the Natural History Unit in 1983 and in 1992 he was appointed head of the Unit. His name appears as series or executive producer on some of the most globally successful tv series, including for the BBC, Blue Planet, Planet Earth, Frozen Planet, The Hunt and, more recently for Netflix, Our Planet.
