SHIVA Charity (Schools Helping India Voluntary Association), is a Bristol based charity established in 1995. Its founder, Bob Uppington, and the trustees are all teachers. The organisation has no religious or political affiliations, and its aim is to promote education, particularly in the poorer areas of Nepal and Sri Lanka. This is mainly done through individual child sponsorship and by raising funds for educational projects and school equipment. The Charity supports a school named in honour of Ginette Harrison and receives donations from Wilderness Lectures and our audience, each year. In 2013, we helped Shiva by raising over 5000 to assist the charity's schools; this came from our own donation, donations from our audience, from Barcan Woodward Solicitors and from a client of Mountain Kingdoms.
